nice place to stroll around for an evening

This is worth a stop when visiting this part of the state. We left a visit here for early evening when the shops were open and we can have dinner at the same time. I would not... read more

This was a real step back in time. The monuments, the buildings and the fact that the sun did not seem to hit the main street and it was cold. There is a good statue of Wild Bill Hikock, seated in the Main St. There was also a notice about when there was to be a shoot out. All great... More

Much of the historic ambience has been maintained. People/characters in period costumes walk the streets. There are several gunfights/shootouts a day. In Saloon #10 "Wild Bill" narrates the story of his murder. Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried in Deadwood and their grave sites can be visited for a fee.

Great place to walk along, shop, gamble, window shop and dine. Many signs explaining who, what, when and where in history passed by these buildings. It's an easy walk, the day was warm and sunny, we stopped in many of the shops and found the prices to be in line with the area. Look for the black signs with white... More

My greatest regret was not having a full week to walk up & down the streets & into every single Shop, Saloon & Restaurant!! This town has worked unbelievably hard to preserve its western heritage. Every storefront conjures up wonderful old western movies from long ago. The people who work in these amazing shops & restaurants seem to really love... More

Love love Deadwood. Such a fun place. Always friendly staff everywhere you go. Always plenty to do. We gamble eat and sight see. Bring the kiddos during the day. They can go in the casinos before 9:00 p.m. I believe. There are things to see in most of them.

It is an interesting town with lots of saloons and casinos. If you like to drink and gamble, it is perfect. Otherwise, drive to some ghost towns.

It is worth walking the streets of Deadwood. There are may bars, casinos and souvenir shops. They emphasize their wild west history with colorful characters and miners.
