We stayed here in a tent for one night. Site #20 is the best tent campsite, right on the river, grassy, large and relatively quiet. We walked right down to the river (Split Creek) and went tubing. Swimming or wading by the campsite was impossible, way too many huge rocks in the slightly murky water to trip you up. Our... More

This is a nice day trip for hiking and picnicking. The camping is great too! I wouldn't go swimming in Splitrock Creek as there are many cattle grazing upstream.

The park is relatively small, but peaceful, relaxing and with delightful sites around each corner. There were several trails that were relatively short and mostly easy to do. The cost of a day pass was only $4. There were lots of places to have a picnic. I didn't drive through the campground, but there was one. I did take lots... More

We arrived late but self checkin was easy and we found our campsite easily. The following morning we met the campground host and he welcomed us warmly. He told us about all the sights in the park and in town. He made are stay very pleasurable. The park was clean and everything was perfect. Site was clean and quiet. We... More

We have been to Sioux Falls many, many times. I've always wanted to go see Palisades State Park (as recommended by a friend) but never got the opportunity. Well, this time, it was the right time. The weather was gorgeous, blue skies and white, puffy clouds, perfect temp to hike around the 3 short trails (the longest was about a... More

Nice hiking and campsite for families. Be prepared to get your shoes dirty! Also have many restrooms to use play grounds for kids.

A hidden gem in the middle of fields. With our climbing guide book, we were able to climb the starts of several routes. We also hiked a bit. We watched other people swim and picnic. The bathrooms were also not too bad at all. Totally worth the drive. We'll be back for more climbing soon.

We were traveling to Pipestone and saw a sign to Palisades State Park. Since we had some spare time we decided to take a visit. After seeing nothing but rolling farm land, we were very surprised at this park. The admission fee of $6.00 was very reasonable. It seems so quiet and secluded and the granite cliffs and stream are... More
