We spent a couple of hours here as there is a lot to see. Plenty of information too. Great person treated us and was very helpful answering questions.

While not a large museum, Dakota Discovery offers some interesting insights into the history of the region, including that of the indigenous population. There is also some very interesting art displayed on the second floor. If you are in Mitchell to see the Cow Palace...More

I always make a point of visiting. The collection by Oscar Howe is worth seeing if you have rptime for nothing else. Great selection of books for sale.

Stopped here while visiting in the Mitchell area. We were there in the afternoon and at the time was the only visitors. Museum consists of artifacts from the settling times of this area as well as paintings from artists with local ties. Also at this...More

So many things to learn about the local area and South Dakota History. Buildings out back and that small town set up fun for photos for all ages. Art to education this is a great stop and with the effort!
