We were looking for some extra things to do in Chattanooga that were not too long. This one fit the bill very nicely. We took the one hour Missionary Ridge trip (the Local). The conductor and attendant were in old fashioned clothing and made the trip much more enjoyable. I also enjoyed the attendant giving us a commentary about the... More

Pulling up to the front, there is a yard with about a dozen engines and traincars parked. Going into the station, there is a nice little giftshop and you can get tickets to ride the steam engine. The ladies that work there were all super friendly. It kind of felt like we might have time traveled back in time. As... More

Went on the Bunny Train for Easter and it was well worth the $. Kids loved it - we rode on the train to a railroad building a few miles away and the Easter bunny was there + coloring activities + maze + easter egg hunt + songs/games. We had such a good time and didn't feel rushed. Only downfall... More

"Museum" is a very strong word. Only a few train cars to see from the outside. Maybe great for small kids but not very thrilling for adults. We skipped the train ride once we saw what it was.

Riding the train was just an ok excursion. I think young children would LOVE riding the train...my 12 yr old not so much. It was an experience and we are glad we did it but it was a little costly for such a short ride.

My son is 4 and is in love with trains. Pros.... Awesome trains in the yard. Real train station Cons... This is not a museum They said the museum is on the actual train that you have to buy tickets for The train rides were outrageous in price Even the bunny train was $22 and it had not so good... We took the 'local' route. It takes about 15 minutes to get to their terminal where they show you how the turn the locomotive around on the turntable and then show you their workshop area. I thought it was a cute touch that the guides wear authentic clothing - it makes you feel like you're stepping back in time. The... More

The entire ride is about and hour and a half. It is informative and watching the engine on the turntable was awesome. You get an informative tour of a railroad yard. Check activities for the time of year you are going, as there are different things for seasonal times.

The narrative of the history of the train was very interesting. The train ride to the where the trains are renovated was shorter than I expected. The 1 hour train ride included about 15 minutes to the maintenance barn, 15 minutes seeing how the train is turned around, 15 minutes for a limited tour of the maintenance barn and then... More

This was a great outing for my Aunt Evelyn, her grands Cierra & Tommy and myself - not a lot of walking, exciting for the kids...me too when we went through a tunnel built in 1852 - dark!! Price was average to better than most - they have "holiday" themes and birthday parties - their website will clarify all this.... More
