This is a must see exhibit when in Johnson City. The layouts are nothing short of spectacular. The exquisite details and the marvelous and meticulous skill is apparent everywhere one looks. Each item is in scale to the layout and the obvious love that goes...More

We brought our 2 yo grandson and he loved it. We have also brought a group of elderly folks who also loved it. There is a play room for kids who get bored quickly looking at things and want hands on.

I love to just walk through and see how things were years ago. My family has always tried to find out how transportation was when my grandparents were alive.

More model trains than museum--popular with the kids. Sometimes you encounter very friendly volunteers--sometimes not so much. It's free--donations welcome--so how can you really complain? Take the kids and enjoy. Just don't expect expert/fanatical archives, etc.

The trains in this museum are great for people of all ages. The detail work is exceptional. Also great for a rainy day activity.

My boys started out as Thomas fanatics, and enjoyed going to the Railroad Museum when they were very little (they called it the "Train Party"). They are past the Thomas years, but still enjoy a visit to check out the new displays and participate in...More
