Fun for all

The trains in this museum are great for people of all ages. The detail work is exceptional. Also great for a rainy day activity.

More model trains than museum--popular with the kids. Sometimes you encounter very friendly volunteers--sometimes not so much. It's free--donations welcome--so how can you really complain? Take the kids and enjoy. Just don't expect expert/fanatical archives, etc.

This is a relatively small museum of railroad memorabilia. It has a children's playroom, a room with a number of layouts and cases of items from railroad collectors on display. There is also a hidden room, that is not well signed, but if you ask a volunteer, they will direct you to a large layout that is in the progress... More

My boys started out as Thomas fanatics, and enjoyed going to the Railroad Museum when they were very little (they called it the "Train Party"). They are past the Thomas years, but still enjoy a visit to check out the new displays and participate in special events.

We visited the railroad museum while in town for a family wedding and looking for something to do. We were blown away by the displays and the passion for the model trains by those volunteering there. One nice man gave us a very thorough tour of the model train display they are building and talked us through each stretch of... More

We have visited the Railroad Museum several times and we were impressed with the size and variety of the displays. Just incredible. And they are constantly adding more. They will take the time to explain what they are doing and even let my sister in law make a tree. My brother is very knowledgeable about model trains of all kinds... More

Really nice HO and N layouts. The larger layouts are HO, which is typical since HO is the most popular scale. They have created really nice scenery. They do scale modeling as opposed to the toy like railroad models that many "baby boomers" have that replicate the trains they remember from childhood in post WWII. There were plenty of hobbyists...
