The Sunsphere Tower observation deck offers a marvelous view of the Knoxville area. One can walk in a complete circle around the observation deck high above the city and see the downtown area, the University of Tennesse, the Tennessee River, and on a clear day perhaps even the Great Smoky Mountains about 45 miles away. There is no charge to... More

We have been to several events near here and it is always filled with children. I have gone with grandchildren and they always enjoy it.

Take a nice look at the strikng outside but hardly worth the time it takes to figure out parking. The free elevator ride to the observation deck is not worth it either. Not much to see and no acoustiguide to educate you. No place for a snack or a bathroom break. The place is dated and rundown with no charm... More

I came to the World's Fair with my family in 1982! So it was an absolute treat to get to come back and revisit the site and go up to the observation deck! The park is very nice and I was moved by the East Tennessee Veterans Memorial on the site! That was a a great discovery!

We walked to the Sunsphere Tower from where the free electric trolley bus dropped us off on the Gay Street Route. There was a field trip of children in the observation area, but we could read the displays to see what we were looking at in the town of Knoxville. It was interesting. I was a little bit disappointed in... More

A lovely 360 view of the city and it's free. If you're in the area, you should definitely check it out.

For a great view of Knoxville and the surrounding areas, just take the free elevator and spend a few minutes walking around the observation level.

I was told when visiting friends in Knoxville that I needed to check out the Sunsphere are it was part of the World's Fair from 1982 and cool views of the city and it was free. I was fortunate enough to be able to go on a weekday when it wasn't crowded at all. The tower is right off the... More

Took our out of town friends up in "the big gold ball" and it was a hoot! A great way to see the surrounding area of Knoxville and it's free! What more can you ask for? We LOVE Knoxville!
