Anyone with an interest in WWII history - this is a must!

Great to be able to see the defence installations up close and marvel at how much is still left in Jersey.

You really feel you are walking in the footsteps of the past.

Very, very moving

Anyone with an interest in the Second World War should come here. It's a part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall, and a memorial to all those slave labourers that the Organisation Todt worked to their deaths building it.
The concrete is several feet thick, so not much could penetrate the bunkers, but I would think that the concussive effect of a few heavy shells detonating on the roof would be enough for anyone inside.

Husband loved it and was very impressed, it’s part of the Jersey history of WW2 and nice to see it has been preserved for future generations to learn about the history surrounding this island.

Real a well preserved part of German “Atlantic Wall”
Oct 2019
Probably all military enthusiasts know that Hitler’s “Atlantic Wall” was a coastal defence system along the coast of continental Europe, however only a few know that Channel Islands were the first part of it as the construction of fortifications began here.
Today, great majority of fortifications on the continent is demolished or destroyed by time, however Jersey is an exception and you can find many well-preserved fortifications grouped in carefully designed strongpoints, especially in western part of the island.
Battery Lothringen is one of such places and it is a “proper” one, as there are over 30 different items listed below the plan of this place, including more than a dozen of different bunkers, gun emplacements, naval tower, rangefinder and platforms for a searchlight here. This place is a real treat for any militaria fan.
The place itself is a great viewpoint, as it is located at the end of Noirmont Point and there is easy access by car with large parking. It overlooks a big part of southern coast of Jersey, including St Aubin’s Bay with Elizabeth Castle, so it is worthy to visit, even if you are not impressed by any militaria.

Atlantic Wall fortifications on Noirmont Point
Sep 2019
You can visit the WOII buildings on Noirmont Point which are still in a relatively good state. Information boards on site will give you extra explanation about the structures.
I would have liked to visit the observation tower and command bunker from the inside. But the battery has very limited opening times, so you have to plan it carefully.
Plenty of parking space if you come by car. Or you can walk from St-Aubin harbour, it is a very lovely walk along green lanes. A small part is by a rather busy road and the start of the walk is very steep. It took me about 45 minutes to get here. As a bonus you have wonderful views from the headland.

Unique German gun battery command bunker.

Restored armoured Rangerfinder and ancillary structures controlling a 4 gun battery. Viewing periscopes and instruments in the cupola with a great collection of equipment and information in the underground crew rooms. A restored gun is in one of the gunpits. Personnel sheltersbehin, ammunition and other bunkers in the battery area.

Great Place of Interest
Aug 2019
This is another Installation owned by CIOS. Underground bunker with lots to explore and exhibits to read about. Can recommend the blue book history of Batterie Lothringen for those who want more info of what it was like to serve in a German Artillery batterie. Over ground you can see and explore the gun emplacements and Ammunition bunkers which were recently excavated.Only a couple of pounds entry- all funds for the upkeep are self generated so be a bit generous :0)

Worth a visit
Jun 2019
This is a very well laid out and interesting Museum. It could be a little tidier as there were one or two of the poster boards on the floor. But generally you get a good insight into what life was like at the Battery. the guides were very friendly and helpful providing information. It would benefit from having better car parking sign posts and accessibility to the navigation tower would have been good.

Iconic structure of the Atlantic Wall
Jul 2019
A superb example of a artillery observation tower built by the Todt Organisation for Hitler's Atlantic Wall. All built by slave labour in appalling conditions.
