About
The Golden Hind in Brixham Harbour, is one of only two full sized replicas in the world of 16th century explorer and privateer Sir Francis Drake's famous ship. The Ship has been a feature of picturesque Brixham harbour for over fifty years, entertaining and educating thousands of visitors during this time - as well as being featured on many tv programmes and films. The Ship is open come rain or shine and is an all weather attraction with many indoor displays as well as wide open decks and on-board activities.

Excellent 90mins spent exploring Drake’s Golden Hind. The audio commentary was really useful. Lots of fun had by all and very interesting facts learned

Interesting and fun

It’s a replica rather than the real thing, but you still get a feel for life on board the Golden Hind, and the amount of space available. The information is well-presented and interesting

Love this and it's been here as long as I can remember

The Golden Hind replica has been here as long as I can remember and it would be strange to see Brixham and the harbour without it.

great fun for all

Far more of a museum than I thought it would be, and it was still great fun. Interesting facts explained in a fun way, the most striking thing was just how small the (replica) ship was, and how many hands were expected to live and work on the little ship.

Hard not to be in awe of Drake and his crew
Jun 2021
The museum is really very well presented, showing off facts to interest all ages. It seems to be very child friendly but without spoiling the experience for people without children.

As you walk around this replica, it is hard not to be awed by what Drake, his crew and this ship achieved. Really worth visiting

My first visit for almost 55 years and it didn't disappoint, a replica ship of course but plenty of hands on stuff for the little uns as well as some interesting stuff for the grown ups.

Aye me heartys what a Briiiant attraction! The ship is fascinating with lots to see. Theirs also a dress up area and you can try on props. Their is also an underneath section that takes you under the deck to the sleeping quarters. Staff friendly and excellent value.

An attraction and curiosity
Apr 2021
It certainly brings a bit of life to the inner harbour where it has apparently been alongside for more than half a century. It is evidently popular, well staffed and packed with information and stuff. It has to be said that bits of it are beginning to look worn and past their best and even a bit like stage props but it is claimed to meet much of the measurements and features of the original. It may have been taken over by more recent efforts, not least the replica standing in a dock in Southwark on the Thames just beside the cathedral and Borough Market. That aside I would have no hesitation taking children or many adults visiting Brixham on board.

Definitely good for children
Oct 2020
As two adults, the depth of history on display here was somewhat lacking. It's a well-built attraction with friendly staff, but really aimed at children. If you're coming as a group of adults, you will probably be finished quite quickly.
