Very interesting. Worth a visit.

The museum shows the history of the prison as well as prisoners work (both craft and paintings). Lots of interesting things to see which cover past history up to today.

We called into the Dartmoor prison museum whilst travelling around Dartmoor and taking in the beautiful scenery, It was so interesting we really enjoyed our time there and would defiantly recommend stopping to visit if you are planning a trip to Dartmoor.

this is a great place to visit, especially with kids that sometimes think that getting into trouble is fun,,,after reading through the history of the prison, you get to look at all the artifacts of all descriptions and sizes, from uniforms of the warders to the clothes of the inmates,,to the tools and weapons that have been made by prisoners to either escape... Very interesting place to visit with plenty of information. Have never visited a prison Museum before. Princetown is such a lonely bleak place you can really feel how awful it must have been to have been incarcerated on Dartmoor. Well worth a visit

Dartmoor museum is based in the old dairy farm opposite the actual legendary Dartmoor prison in princeton,we headed for 'Anthony' and took the ferry at 'torpoint' before driving the rest of way through the Dartmoor national park,a splendid open space of land unspoilt for hundreds of years and a nice experience to see..The museum itself is very in-expensive to enter... A fascinating little museum which is well laid out and full of fascinating artifacts. The history of the prison is very interesting and in times past quite unnerving..... enjoy your trip. It's excellent value for money

Visited with my family. My daughter loves Les Miserables so has alot of questions about prisons! Very interesting place, especially after finding out that prisoners volunteer there. We all chatted to a prisoner for over an hour about the museum, the work he'd done there and prison life. Amazing experience for all of us. We learnt alot. Much appreciated. :-)

Popped in here on a rainy day and was pleasantly surprised. Lots and lots of history of Dartmoor prison from past to present. With plenty to take in and read perfect for a rainy day. Staff were very friendly and extremely reasonably priced attraction. Would recommend for all.

Visited by chance and found some unexpected information, particularly about the origins of the prison. Items made by prisoners were also fascinating.

The museum is improving and they are adding more to it. A lot of written facts which would take you ages to read through but some amazing historical artefacts, like toothpicks made from animal bones by prisoners of war from 200 years ago. The history is both sad and compelling. My daughter was fascinated by the A frame and cat... More
