I used to enjoy going here to use their cafe & such lovely cream teas. Last time we went we were asked to pay about £8 to get in as the National Trust are now charging. We were aware that you have to pay to go round the A La Ronde house which is so interesting & worth it, but... More

The house has 16 sides making it very unusual. It's a National Trust property so if you don't belong to them it's just under £20 for 2 adults. The Parminter cousins built it in this shape to make the most out of natural light. Filled with lots of treasures they collected from around the world. Sadly the shell room at... More

A La Ronde is one of those places where you can't quite believe the published descriptions but then, having visited, discover that they are all true! What other place house have you visited that was designed so the family could move around the house and always enjoy the sunlight? Ingenious! The range of exhibits on show are also numerous and... This is a fascinating property and really quirky. Very informative guides which really made you understand the background to the building. Well worth a visit.

What a gem of a place! So unique, unusual and quirky in every way. Made me smile the whole time I was there. So much to see and marvel at. All the room stewards were knowledgeable and more than happy to answer questions and seemed to genuinely want you to love the house as much as they did. When you... More

This is a very unusual National trust property with a most interesting history. The building is a 'Tardis' and has to be explored to be believed. The interior is very cleverly designed and there are many features that were added ahead of their time. Allow time to wander and be amazed and then visit the cafe for some excellent refreshments.

The building is very interesting from its unusual windows to the huge collection of seashells. There are so many little treasures that the two ladies that built the house collected on their world travels. The lady that conducted our tour was a font of knowledge and answered every question that was asked concerning the house. There are two narrow staircases... More

Caught the No57 bus from town to the Esso garage. Quartermile walk up narrow lane to the property. Lovely quirky house with lots of interesting feature and wonderful views over the Exe estuary. Nice tea room with excellent cream teas. Leave propery by same lane and walk down the road from the Esso garage to find the National Trust footpath... More

Visited today and intended to stop for coffee and cake after a walk along the Exe Estuary Trail. Unfortunately unless you are a National Trust member the charge is £8.90 per adult before they allow you to enter the cafe, grounds or house. I was told that the NT had decided to charge everyone regardless of whether you visit the... More
