The Centre provides information on fossils, fossil hunting and the local coastal and marine wildlife. Facilities at the centre include interactive computers, hands on displays, marine tanks and a video microscope, all of which can help you to discover more about our stretch of the coastline. You will always find a helpful warden or volunteer who can help you identify your fossil finds. The Centre also has disabled access. Our Jurassic Theatre shows a short film on 'The Jurassic Coast and Finding fossils at Charmouth' (adults £1, children 50p). We also have a shop stocked with books for all levels, including some of our own publications, toys and souvenirs. Throughout the year we run guided fossil hunting walks and rockpooling walks along the local coastline. The Centre also has an extensive education programme. For information about the activities we have to offer to school groups please see our Primary Schools and Secondary Schools sections.

Unfortunately the center was closed when we visited. It is 'out of season' so understandable. The shop downstairs was open and had loads of information on the area.

Packed with interest, staffed with enthusiasm, not to be passed by, even if you only spend a short while there.

A lovely centre that appeals to all ages. My 8 year old was so excited and enthusiastic after visiting and we came back the day after as well

Visited yesterday. Excellent small museum enjoyed by all; parents, grandparents and boys aged nine and five. Friendly, informed staff, a young lady engaged the attention of the five year old beautifully. Visiting the museum enhanced our afternoon on the beach.

We spend a very happy morning exploring the really well curated exhibits, chatting to the super helpful volunteers and then doing a fossil walk on the beach. The kids thought it was amazing, and we did too. The fossil walk was excellent - really informative...More

If you are fossil hunting this makes a great stop. We hid from the rain for a bit, there are some activities to keep the kids happy and lots of information about fossils. All by donation.

Called here on the way to West Bay. A nice way to spend a couple of hours with all the jurassic articles that have been found locally.
