I last visited the Rex in about 1986 as a child and had great memories of the theatre. I was not disappointed when returning earlier this week 30 years later! It is a fantastic building, full of character and charm. Alongside this is a very comfortable and well run cinema, a welcoming team run by passionate volunteers. The quality of... More

For those of retirement age visiting the Rex in Wareham brings back memories of the past. The staff ard sk friendly and one can take a bar drink to one's seat and enjoy it whilst watching the film. The surroundings and ambience takes one back to the 1960s.

the local people are so lucky to have this marvellous cinema run by volunteers. It is wonderful, excellent value and fantastic programmes. I was lucky enough to see the Royal Opera House's Il Trovatore the sound quality was magnificent as was the visuals. There is a small bar serving drinks and Ice creams available in the interval. Loved it! a... More

Our very best local cinema. Great atmosphere, great staff and always good films! Also very good value for money, much better than the horrid impersonal big complexes !

Sweet old cinema! Super friendly place run by a group of locals. Tiny little bar opens before each showing where you can get a glass of wine to take with you to enjoy during the film.

A wonderful night at this old world Cinema. We came here during the Purbeck Film Festival, enjoying a screening of a restored version of Hitchcock's Vertigo. The film was intriguing and all the more enjoyable in the ambience of the recently restored auditorium. What a treat that you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while watching the film!... More

Compact cinema that clearly is a blast from the past. Great for a night out to escape to the movies for an hour or two without feeling the expense of a multiplex Worth a visit

What a wonderful trip back in time. The Rex is an old fashioned cinema that has retained its original features whilst showing modern films. There is a lovely bar downstairs where you can buy a drink pre performance. There is no popcorn station but a nice selection of local ice creams prior to the film starting. I highly recommend a... We camp regularly not far from Wareham, and if we have a cold or rainy evening we amble along to the Rex Cinema. It really doesn't matter what's showing - the staff are all volunteers and the feeling you get is that these people are proud of their little cinema, and they have time for a chat and a laugh....
