The REX is an art-deco gem of a small town cinema from the 1920's. 130 Seats with digital projection and sound but with a period ambience. The REX is owned by the Purbeck Film Charitable Trust and run by a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. The REX shows everything from art-house to blockbusters and is the main hub of the renowned annual Purbeck Film Festival, the largest rural film festival in the United Kingdom.

Got to see a couple of the films during my stay, but unfortunately left as the Purbeck Film Festival started. Very friendly staff, comfortable seats and reasonably priced refreshments

an excellent self financing little cinema. an evening well spent, manned by volunteers £6.50 each to watch an up to the minute movie in a really friendly environment with a beer in one hand and an ice cream in the other with your loved one...More

Have to say we didnt get in...full, but looking around the place its something from the 60's. It only holds about a few dozen, at most, so book!! Shame we couldnt get in. Nice looking bar.

Super experience. Old school cinema nice whisky before film and ice cream. Def not multiplex experience. Have refurbished recently and much improved heating. But place still retains character. What an amazing place run by delightful voluntary staff, take your drink from not over price bar and sit down in this delightful cinema and enjoy the film, what could better, oh yes the ticket price are really to low

Hi We are showing Hacksaw Ridge until 16 February and then there is a matinee of La La Land on Friday, 17 Feb. We then close for the Rex Players show, reopening on Sunday 26 February with Jackie. Thanks

Sorry couldn't say, I think they are on the internet but we just walk to it when holidaying in the area. There is only one screen though so not much choice but they do show new films
