Found out when we arrived that the distillery had closed 30 years ago when the market for whisky collapsed. Very knowledgeable gentleman. We had long talk about using American bourbon and spanish sherry kegs for flavouring scotch whisky. We did not visit the distillery buildings but were told the tour is audio with thorough explanations of the entre distillation process.

really enjoyed this visit as you can go round in your own time and get close to all things that are a distillery .

This is a self guided tour with an audio guide. Which means you find out more and can do it at your own pace. We had previously done a guided tour of a working distillery and it wasn't half as good - mainly because the guide at that one was very uninterested. The staff were very helpful and friendly and... This was a really good museum. Even if you've been to a whisky distillery before and seen it in operation I suggest this as you can get up really close to the apparatus in a way that you just can't in a working distillery. It was really worthwhile and the dram (whisky sample) at the end is a nice touch-... More

We visited here on a cold and damp afternoon and spent a very pleasant couple of hours. The manager was very helpful explaining about the distillery and we were given audio wands for the tour. You could spend as long or as little amount of time as you wanted walking around and taking photographs. The whole thing was well set... More

We visited the distillery on a rainy cold day and got a warm welcome from the manager Richard. He explained some of the history and how to follow the trail of footprints around the distillery with talking wands that gave us a running commentary about the distillery at each numbered pausing place. It was very informative and we liked going... More

This was a working distillery until the 1990's, when it closed it's operations. It is now purely a tourist attraction. One of the nice things about this site, is that the "audio guide" is included in the entry fee. The cost of an adult ticket is £5.50. The fact that you have the audio guide, means that you can go... This museum is a very good example of a well preserved closed Scottish distillery. We enjoyed a private tour with an audio guide. Everything was left as it was during the closing in 1983. It was like if someone could just walk inside and start up the boiler again. We sampled some Roderick Dhu and for me it was a... More

While no longer a working distillery, Dallas Dhu is an excellent place to get up close and personal to the inner workings. It's been preserved as it was when it shut down in 1983. Most of the equipment is from the 1950s when the distillery was rebuilt after a fire. There is a self-guided audio tour that walks you through... More
