Three floors of gallery space, filled with the work of artists, modern, recent and not so modern. The short art film Colour Poems (12 minutes) by Margaret Tait was captivating and the work by Barbara Hepworth was beautiful and incredible to view from different angles...More

Unfortunately we visited on change over week but enjoyed a look at the permanent collection which is definitely for the Modern contemporary Art lover. Shop disappointing and no cafe. Good hang and lovely site sensitively arranged

Some fellow travellers encouraged us to visit this gallery during our stay in Stromness and we were so pleased they did. During our visit there was a special exhibition on paintings and photographs of Stromness, which was fascinating, as well as the permanent exhibition. Because...More

It does have some interesting works, and the exhibitions do mean you might get more interesting art than we saw. Probably worth doing but manage your expectations!

We were disappointed with our visit here. The atmosphere is more like a library than what we thought would be a vibrant arts centre and we were disappointed that there was no cafe or refreshments available.
