Stunning. Landscape between two lochs. Thousands of years of history and easy to explore. There is a small car park at the Ring of Brodgar, with interpretation boards. So much in such a small place - really felt the history in the ground.

We were fortunate enough to visit the site in August when the archeologists were working and had an interesting and informative guide which took around an hour. This is an excellent and worthwhile place to visit - highly recommended.

We took one of the free tours offered throughout the day. Excellent explanation of what is happening, how they work, what they find. Great to have the elevated ramp for a good view of the site.

Why is this in twice (also under Ring of Brogdar). Really needs amalgamating - but that doesn't stop it from being fabulous but a bit disappointing until the fencing comes down. Go at sunrise or sunset if you can.

The setting is absolutely glorious - the enormous stones a perfect picture against the hills, water and sky. We visited the Stones of Stenness, the walked across the causeway (about a mile) to the Ring of Brodgar, something I recommend doing if the weather is...More

I returned to Orkney deliberately in August to visit the dig at Ness of Brodgar, I was not disappointed. The guide was fantastic, there's so much archaeology here it's unreal. Truly magical and a must see.

This whole area stretches your imagination These discoveries are mind blowing and they all predate Stonehenge. Huge standing stones in amazing settings.

I am going to say YES. I saw dogs everywhere on various sites. I don't recall seeing any signs saying no dogs.
