It’s not difficult to see why the Isle of Lewis consistently receives so much acclaim. From beaches and crystal clear waters that rival luxury tropical islands, to its rich history and stunning scenery, this remote and spectacular destination in the Outer Hebrides is the perfect venue for wonderful memories. Overlooking Stornoway harbour, the impressive gothic-revival style castle was built in the mid 1800’s by Sir James Matheson. Since then this beautiful building has also served as a hospital during WW2, a college, a school and now as an iconic wedding venue and luxurious holiday destination with Natural Retreats. Serving delicious hand-prepared dishes as well as local delicacies, our Storehouse cafe is the perfect place to take a moment after your exploration of the Lews Castle grounds. Enjoy a frothy coffee or two from the comfort of our unique eatery, before tucking into our tasty specials of the day. Pick up the perfect souvenir from your visit to our retail outlet 'The Outfitters', during your time at Lews Castle. From gorgeous gifts to luxury clothing and foodie treats, we've got you covered.

tasteful, modern, clean comfortable and romantic. Lovely location and views and friendly staff. We would not normally pay for this kind of expensive accommodation but we couldn't find anywhere suitable that was cheaper so we took the plunge and were very pleased we did.

We arrived late after a slow drive from the ferry at Tarbert, but this was no problem at all. The flat was immaculate, and the welcome hamper very well chosen (except for cheap white bread: glad to have it for sandwiches on a Sunday, but...More

Accommodations were superb and we really enjoyed our 6 days at the castle. The staff was extremely helpful and hanging out at the bar was THE BEST. It is close to everything and Stornoway is just beautiful! However, I suggest hitting the local grocery stores...More

This is a review of the Natural Retreats accommodation in Lews Castle, not the museum, cafe or grounds, which are all fine. The cold water taps were running hot and became even hotter after running for a long period! This is a dangerous health issue...More

What a beautiful place. The castle and surrounding area is just beautiful, even in the rain! Coffee was not great in the cafe but that didn't spoil our visit. Musuem is very informitive and really gives an insight into island life.

Much of the castle was closed due to a private function while we were there. However we did tour the museum that is within the castle. It is an exceptional museum with some creative, engaging, and highly informative displays. One of the best museums I've...More

Hi, You would need to fly into Stornoway Airport and from here you would be able to get a taxi to the Castle. Unfortunately we don't currently offer ground transfers. Thanks
