One of the absolute highlights of our Scotland tour. Brilliant day. We had the best time watching the athletes, the mums and dads with their children, the tug-o-war, the dancers and the massed pipe band was amazing. Jagged the weather too.

We were there half an hour early and stayed well after the finish of the day, talking to locals, watching the after games party in the beer tent and really soaking up the marvelous atmosphere and friendly crowd. Loved the competitions, and the heavy athletics...More

Speaking with a steward upon arrival he said it was the best weather the Gathering has enjoyed for 20 years which enhanced the day. I admit not being a fan of single bag players but around 50 as part of a massed band WOW I...More

What a great day out! Excellent drive from Pitlochry to Braemar through the Highlands. Wonderful events with the military tug of war finals being a highlight. Concluding with a visit from the Royal Family. Get there!

See the Gathering website re selling out in 2017 & buy in advance if you really want to attend. There is limited capacity at the grounds.

Suggest advance purchase - the grounds are very small with limited seating & the Gathering is very popular so suspect there is very real prospect of a sell out. There is now an online purchase option which was not available... More
