I spent a few days on Jura, staying at the Jura Hotel, with the aim of exploring the Paps (hills). The hotel is friendly and comfortable with good quality food (but a limited choice for vegetarians) and a cosy residents' lounge if you don't fancy...More

Jura is very different from Islay, wilder and more remote with single track roads and steeper roads dropping down to the sea. Worth seeing the famed deer and the eagles soaring across the blue sky were spectacular.

Very few people around but everyone seemed pleased to see you and chatty. Just the one road. Loads of deer and other wildlife. Beautiful scenery but midges quite fierce! If you want peace and tranquillity its a great place to find it.

A lovely, peaceful island with 1 road. If you want peace, maybe visit the 1 distillery and do some walking it is perfect. It is the first time we have been but we will be back. A real gem.

Walkers - wildlife spotters - lovers and romantics will enjoy Jura and that is before you consider the local produce. Look, love, eat, dram and be merry!
