We like both the walk past the lighthouse before cutting up to St. Blanes, or the walk across to the stones before an amble down the road to the St. Blanes parking before picking up the path through the church and up over the hill...More

Place infused with history. Nice to walk from Kilchattan round if it doesn’t start tipping it with rain. Alternative is to drive and then just walk up the hill. Appropriate amount of Interpretation boards with good level of information .

Loved this place, beautiful scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. Well worth a visit. The only problem was that I had to walk up alone as my disabled husband couldn't walk up to it and had to wait in the car.

I'm a Macblain acblain, my name derives from the fact my ancestors were followers of Bishop Blane. I had come to Bute to scatter my Father's ashes and to visit places where Blane was associated. The walk up from where we parked was steep but...More

Any place on Bute from Rothesay is really no more than about 15 miles but you will need either a car or bike to get there unless you like the walking. It is well worth the effort to go and experience the location. About... More
