For a small museum it had much to see and appreciate. Lovingly compiled and looked after by enthusiastic staff. Some fascinating history and information about the island, and a great collection of stuffed animals. Especially liked the hands on areas for children to see and feel artefacts.

great place to go when raining. The staff are most talkative and helpful. A treasure hunt was taking place for children and they were having a fantastic time. Plenty to see

The museum looked very small but was filled with all kinds of things from all over the Isle of Bute. There was no need to rush, and it was interesting to see the variety of exhibits.

The knowledge and enthusiasm of the people who run this small community museum have made it a very appealing and engaging place. It has two rooms: one full of items relating to Bute's fascinating history and the other all about Bute's equally interesting natural history, as well as a small shop with books, cards and toys. The history room contains... More

When we entered, we were met by a very friendly lady who invited us to ask her any questions. Inside there is a wealth of information, old and more recent. What we did find and like, is that the museum works closely with the local school children as here were displays and work that the children had done. Well done.

This is a great place to visit with polite and informative staff, cheap for a family visit with children, plenty for them to see (and touch).

Worth tagging onto a day visit to Bute, perhaps taking in the. Astor and Mount Stuart. Spent about an hour in the small but interesting museum, with lots of local history dating back to prehistoric times up to date. Would interest children too on a rainy day. The old photographs were a highlight.

I love to learn about the history of places I visit, ancient, recent and natural. This place covered it all. The staff (or volunteers)? were very friendly, helpful and informative. A lovely time was spent learning all about Bute.
