Welcome to Loch Katrine - one of Scotland's special places.

Just as special as the magnificent scenery is the famous steamship "Sir Walter Scott" which itself has been a landmark in The Trossachs for over a hundred years. Your visit is not complete without a cruise on this wonderful ship, or on "Lady of the Lake", the perfect way to experience the beauty of Loch Katrine. Perhaps you'll just want to relax with a coffee or a meal in the Brenachoile Cafe Bar, shop for a souvenir and take a stroll by the shore, or bring the family for a cycle trip?

Loch Katrine was the highlight of my trip to Scotland. Really! The beauty combined with the great weather made for a very special day. We rented bikes at Wheelz (they were very helpful and efficient when we showed up with 10 minutes to spare!), took the Sir Walter Scott across and biked the 14 miles back. I will say, the... More

Really glad you enjoyed your time at Loch Katrine. The walk took me about 5 hours, that was without any sightseeing! Hope to see you back again soon. Best regards. More

Hired a tandem for the day from Katrine Wheelz. £40 for the day and what a fantastic day it was. The guy in the rental place couldn't have been more helpful. We started out a bit wobbly but soon got the hang of it made it right to the top and back and it's definitely a day we'll remember and... More

We'd saved a trip on the steamer on Loch Katrine as the final treat of our holiday and had the luck for it to fall on a perfect, sunny day. Currently, the two hour trip to the other end of the Loch and back sets off at 10.30, later this month (May) the same journey will be available in the... More

Hi and thanks for your kind words! The steamer was built for purpose on the River Clyde by William Denny Bros Ltd. Once trialled she was broken into section which were taken by barge up the River Leven into Loch Lomond - there was no barrage then - to Inversnaid and tranfered onto wagons. These were then dragged by horses... More

beautiful scenery on a well looked after historical cruiser. An excellent experience if a little cold on the day we went, but there are hot drinks and food available and shelter if the weather is poor. Still excellent despite poor weather.

Hired bikes from the Katrine Cycle Hire for 2 hours and had a beautiful ride through the pathway and hills around the loch. Gorgeous scenery, My only criticism is that the bikes, whilst very well maintained and new, were without suspension and had solid rubber tyres. They were a bit hard on the bum!! Went for coffee and cake in... More

Didn't get the best weather on this part of our tour, so weren't blown away by our stop. Enjoyed some of the scenery on the drive around here. Hope the weather is kind for your visit.

Intended having a snack but changed to just a coffee as not impressed by surroundings. Badly needs a tidy up inside and out plus some redecoration and new furniture. The surroundings probably don't do much for staff morale but a few smiles would have improved the experience!
