Pretty Good Food, Great Location

At Rum Boogie you can enjoy food and drinks while watching love music up close. It is located right in the heart of Beal Street.

The dinner menu is much smaller than the lunch menu. Even the choice of side dishes on the dinner menu is reduced. After enjoying lunch there last April, we came back for a second visit to enjoy the chicken fried steak, but it was not available for dinner. The food at dinner was overpriced and mediocre.

When entering they use a permanent marker pen to stamp your hand. They missed my hand put a big line up my shirt. I complained to the manager but not only was she disinterested and asked us to leave but then proceeded to follow us up the street into different bars and try to get us removed... America is meant... Cover charge...sub par band...higher priced beer...inattentive bartender. Do not recommend. And I normally give good reviews!

I was very hungry! I wanted to try a little of everything! So I ordered the fried pickles, red beans and rice, gumbo and the catfish dinner platter! The pickles were sliced length wise :( I like the chip size yet they were tasty. The red beans and rice was ok nothing to write home about Gumbo was fab! You... More

Great food and service!! The gumbo was out of this world. Mississippi Mud played and gave an outstanding performance. Will definitely visit again.

Like others have said, pay one cover and go to two places connected by a large door in the wall. We started out at Rum Boogie and it was smoke free and the band was good. They played a lot of their own music so I think it was harder to engage the audience, who generally sat there quietly. Then... More

One of the few places you have to pay to get in on Beale St, & when you do the service is aloof & rude. Hard to comment on the food / beer / music when the customer service is non existent. Seems to be trading on its location - but I'd suggest you don't bother.

Not sure I would call them world class but it is a lot of fun and the musicians obviously love their music - the food is very ordinary but the service is good.

Pay cover one time and see two different venues. World class blues musicians at both venues. Thoroughly enjoyed the music and dancing. The BBQ sandwich and the fried mushrooms were very tasty. Good beer, too.

Thank Ingrid R
