A hidden gem in the middle of Memphis. The monuments are incredible and the stories of the people buried there are fascinating. The grounds are well kept and I keep observing many improvements each time I visit. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful if you need assistance.

The huge Saucer Magnolias were blooming when we were there and the cemetery grounds were lovely. The tombstones and grave markers are elaborate and stunning. You will find generals, senators, mayors, and even victims of the yellow fever epidemic buried here: there is a lot of history. The cemetery is a little difficult to get to, so use a map... More

My husband and I did the Scoundrels walking tour for $15 each right before Halloween, and it was SO worth the money! The gentleman that gave the tour was so friendly, funny, gave information on unrelated tombstones/memorials/history/etc., and he went over the tour time (was optional for those wanting to learn more). He had a microphone and speaker set so... More

Large historic cemetery, if you are a history loving person, and have some idea of local history you can literally chart the city's life story here. Also, several religions and ethnicity are resting in peace.

We took the audio tour. Sometimes it was difficult to figure out where you should be. But it is a beautiful cemetery and stories to go along wit the stones.

I went here with a friend for a service in remembrance of friends and family recently deceased. The service was in a lovely outside setting and the two people who conducted were both very knowledgeable of the history. The grounds and the stones are beautiful with a feeling of reverence and grace. A time in the past. We arrived too... More

This is a beautiful old cemetery. It is a lovely place for a walk. Check in at the office for self-guided tour info. We were sorry we could not take advantage of that. They have limited hours so check out the website before going.

Fever, war, tragedy, and spirits that refuse to sleep can all be experienced as the memories come to life as one strolls among the monuments mostly covered with mold and fungus. An eerie place no matter the time of day. Statues standing guard, history rising from the grounds, the breath of generals, doctors, politicians moving flower petals above the graves.... More

Beautiful, peaceful old cemetery just chock full of history. Old Memphis movers and shakers and plenty of Confederate old south history lie beneath this hallowed ground. Beautiful old grave markers - take the time to wander around. Just take care and stay alert (lock your car), because this area of town is not the safest. While you're in the area,... More

My husband love it. Me wild rather do something else. The cemetery is nice and lots of history. $10 to get a CD and drive through the cemetery to learn all the history.

Thank Brenda M
