Its very small and there is no public transport except taxis etc to it as you arrive from Chicago to early and depart for New Orleans to early for buses to get you there on time to book in luggage. Also very busy.

I found it to be very clean and the staff was wonderful. "Southern Hospitality" at its finest. They picked up on my "Northern" accent and made sure that I was well informed about the area and even suggested some local restaurants that were well worth the visit. I felt safe and welcomed the entire time.

Station office does not open until 05:45. Small waiting area but sufficient. Isolated area but seems safe. The trip through that area of Memphis is nostalgic with a number of local sights, pubs, and cafes. Watching the trains come in and depart is interesting. It is a bit spooky for unescorted ladies and solo kids. Somewhat confusing to find, staff... More

Hate to say "I told you so" but . . . Asst. Conductor Alfred (both ways) was the most unhappy unfriendly employee I've encountered in a while. Not 1 smile or kind word to anyone. Mr. Grumpy. @ $24/hr. one would think he would appreciate such a job. Good ride / uneventful / no stress ~ Except for screaming babies... More

Great old building that's been remodeled. Desperately needs better overnight parking security. Train to and from New Orleans is fun but bumpy!

3 of us caught the Amtrak from Memphis to New Orleans and the service and ease of checking in at Memphis Station was great. Keep in mind no bags over 50pound (23 kg). Place was clean and felt safe.

This place is small but has restroom, information desk and a place inside to wait for a ride. I couldn't ask for anything more. I also saw lots of cabs waiting for new arrivals.

Amtrak runs south from Memphis and New Orleans ... and North to Chicago. The station itself is interesting for its architecture. It is usually empty, however. A smaller station adjacent to the old station is the place to board the trains.

Not much to see.... but a beautiful old Building! We enjoyed a easy afternoon stroll after visiting the train Museum!

Visiting Memphis Central Station you almost feel like you have taking a trip back in time to the 1960's. Very nostalgic!
