We were staying at the Q Station and spent quite a while walking around this historical site. The first thing that you sense is the quiet. You are right on one of the busiest harbours in the world and it is so quiet and peaceful with only the occasional chirping of the birds. It is an easy walk around to... More

Went on the ghost tour sleep over which runs every third Friday of the month. There were 16 in our group which was nice and small, and we were given Dominoes Pizza as supper. Settled into our rooms which were a various amount of bunks depending on the size of the room. Not the most comfortable beds, the Clarke Rubber... More

We went to North Head/ Q Station because we had some extra time in Manly and we weren't disappointed. The walk - around 2 kms- gives great views of the harbour and the mountains with chirping colorful parrots and brown furry rabbits for company. There was hardly a soul there when we visited and we absolutely loved the calm. It's only... More

The harbour views and scenic hikes could not be lovelier, but the ghost tours are not for the faint of heart. Close to Manly, although buses run infrequently so transportation a little inconvenient unless you utilize a car or taxi. Rooms are well appointed. A memorable stay whether for relaxation or thrills.

If you have a fear of ghosts then don't do this tour. The guides are excellent and try to put a little bit of humour into the tour. There are definitely spirits at this station and my partner who is a little bit skeptical at times actually saw a ghost in the window himself. needless to say I think some... More

We visited the Quarantine Station for the first time, it's an amazing place. We just walked around on our own, walked down the 300 odd steps to the little beach and checked out the memorabilia in the building on the jetty. The Station can be accessed by bus no. 135 at the Manly wharf.

A unique experience staying at the Quarantine station. You are transported to your room in a mini bus. Nice community feel with very comfortable modern accommodation. Delicious food and great service at the Boilerhouse restaurant, but our table did not have a view. Alfresco Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and had to keep an eye out for the Kookaburras who... A great place for the whole family. Bringing history to life, this is a must visit for everyone who loves Australia. The site is hilly and requires a certain level of fitness to get around. There is a free mini-bus from the reception to the museum building, cafe and wharf running around 15 minutes apart. This is a free attraction... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and we had a front room overlooking the harbour. The place is quite spread out so there is plenty of walking to do. We ate at the boiler house and the dinner was pretty special .. We would come back. Might be hot in Jan/Feb as the rooms only have fans.

Neighbourhood Profile
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
