Awesome beach but there's not much shade so make sure to bring an umbrella. Great place if you want something private. I suggest leaving a little early to find street parking unless you're fine paying $5/ph for their car park.

A great beach for families with young children, gently sloping soft sand into water with no big waves, clearly defined boat free area limited shade on hot days but parking close by some of it free. Excellent toilets and changing facilities.

Parking is expensive ( and can be distant if you try to avoid being gouged by Mosman Council. The beach is littered with plastic that floats in from all the boats. I found a syringe just feet from my toddler. On our visit there was a bloke spearing fish ( then gutting the poor thing ) in the swimming area.... More

We walked here through the streets from Balmoral. It was well worth it. There is a large area of trees and grass and amenities before arriving at a small but pretty beach. It is possible to swim or just to look out across the harbour and admire the view

I can't even describe this as a 'Perfect family beach' because it is so much more than that. The parkland before you reach the beach is amazing in itself, so big and loads of space for the kids to run around. Then you get the kids play park with the usual equipment - another tick! Heading along the path towards... More

This is a good beach for families, as it is shaded and had flat access through the reserve from the car park. Parking is $8 a day. There are toilets at the site.

Chinamans is a beautiful beach - out of the way, a favourite of the locals. Water is so clear and the park behind the beach is lovely for picnics.

This beach is one of Sydney's hidden gems as it is a bit tricky to find if you are heading north from the city you have to drive almost to the Spit Bridge and then turn right into Parrarwi Road. One you get there there is a lovely shady park and a playground which is great for the little ones... More

So many beaches in the area to choose from but if you want to avoid crowds and noise this is a good peaceful escape.
