A sunny day’s delight
Oct 2021
This coast becomes more beautiful to look at as one gets older. The weather was not conducive to tourists or surfers but the waves rolled in, the cliffs showed their rock colours were highlights.

Great beach but very busy during holidays.
Apr 2021
The beaches in this area are very nice for children or surfers but during holidays parking is a bit tough. An alternative would be to drive a bit further and go down the Cape Impossible road.

Summer Parking?
Jun 2020
We drove the length of 13th beach stopping along the way to look for a suitable gully for surf fishing. A combination of swell and tide stopped us fishing and the lack of legal parking places must really restrict access during summer which is probably good for those lucky enough to find a car park. Nice beach with steps down to the sand and plenty of joggers, dog walkers and bike riders even if it was cold. There is also a ramp for horses which are presumably allowed to be ridden along this beach.

Visited on Sunday 16th February, access is easy with plenty of parking spaces and once on the beach its a great place to surf or just go for a walk.

Natural Beauty

Gorgeous natural long stretch of coastline to walk at leisure. Probably not a good place to swim as currents strong.

Stunning Coastline
Sep 2019
The walk from the bridge in Barwon Heads along the coast to the surf beach is stunning. The river to the heads and around the point is the best way to start to see the contrast with the open ocean and surf beach. A well maintain path takes you along the coast and then down the stairs and along the beach. The Surfcoast Council has done a great job maintaining this section of the coast line and only two pieces of discarded rubbish. Brilliant walking experience !!

Beautiful Beach at Any Time of Year
Apr 2019 • Couples
Stunning beach with a spectacular marine sanctuary on the eastern end and wide sandy beaches at low tide. Great when the surf is up or alternatively on calm days think about a snorkel around the Barwon Bluff Marine Sanctuary in the kelp forests and rocky reefs. When the weather is cool or rainy rug up for a walk on a wild exposed beach. Water is cool all year round so a wetsuit is needed except on really hot days.

Golf day on the Beach Course
Apr 2019 • Friends
With 3 friends we booked a round of golf on the Beach Course.
Entering the golf shop we encountered a male who must have got out of the wrong side of the bed. He was not your usual friendly face when entering a golf shop and his attitude was not welcoming, but then again he came from apartheid to friendly Australia.
The greens had been cored and sanded which made putting unpredictable due to some sandy parts on the greens. They needed to be watered again and bagged.
The fairways were drying out and apart from the greens and tee boxes were in need of a good drenching.
The course itself was challenging but enjoyable to play.

Due to the unfriendly person in the golf shop we have decided to look for other courses with friendlier and more helpful staff and will NOT be returning to 13th Beach to play again.

Spectacular beachscape
Feb 2019 • Solo
Terrific road out of Barwon Heads follows the length of 13th beach. Taking it in fast (in car), medium (stop at lookouts) or slow (walk beach). Sunsets are a drawcard to watch and savour.
