This trail is great for one and all you can walk it in stages with good bus services to get you back to Lilydale or Cycle it. There are a few places to rent bikes but I have my own and frequently ride sections of the trail for fun. it is not too hilly once you get past the ascent... More

Excellent trail for walking on your own, with friends, with family, with furry friends, cycling and running. There are some nice shady spots to stop on a not day and plenty to see along the route. We heard an abundance of bird calls, frogs and everyone we met along the track was friendly. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to... More

I have ridden and enjoyed the Lilydale to Warburton rail trail many times. It is almost almost maintained better than other rail trails with Lilydale toppings, which is smooth and compacts down very well. Highly recommended.

I rode this beautiful rail trail a few days ago from Lilydale to Warburton. Despite the heavy rain I managed to get to Warburton in about 4 hours. It was my first experience cycling in a rail trail and I need to say that it was absolutely wonderful. I was so impressed by the spectacular scenery that I have decided... More

Great day out. Walk, ride (even horse ride the trail) or run. Various options. Along the way stop for brunch, lunch, dinner or just enjoy a cuppa. Alternatively do each section in stages. You can Visit Yarra Ranges Council and ask for a copy of the trail guide. It will give you the distances between the towns and approximate times... More

I had a wonderful afternoon a few days ago riding my bike from Mt Evelyn to Yarra Junction and back. The track is excellently maintained and hikers and riders seem to get on well :) However, one thing surprised me though ( ... and hopefully people from the local council will read this ... ) ... there are no public... We rode the trail in two part return trips. Once from Warburton to halfway and back, once from Lilydale to halfway and back. The Warburton end is a bit easier as the trail is flatter. Most of the trail is unsealed (crushed basalt) except for a bit at the Warburton end with an asphalt surface. Plenty of places near the... More
