I had often wondered about the underground mines. Then one day I decided I would bite the bullet and go on the tour in the mines. WOW! It's amazing down there. It's a real eye opener to say the least.

The tour is a must! Not cheap at $21 pp, but totally worth it. Our guide Steve had our small group of seven in stitches the entire 1 hour 40 mins we were underground. He was well informed, passionate and completely hilarious with his anecdotes...More

Highly recommend the tour which takes you into the upper part of the mine. Very informative and our guide was lovely. The rest of the site was fine, but the displays were a little outdated.

Sorry for the late response. The walking into the mine is over a not very steep path. It is doable for sombody walking with a stick. As far I remember, there are no steps. The way up is with a mine-train.
