Above ground and underground tour of the now disused State Coal Mine. You get a real feel for the conditions that the miners worked under. Plenty of opportunity for photos and asking questions. Being short is an advantage!

We actually went here on a whim on a trip to Inverloch and were not dissapointed. Although we never did the 1.5 hour long mine tour, there is plenty up top to keep our interest. Great Devonshire Tea at the cafe too

A great trip full of stories and genuine look at this time in history. Children get to wear a hard hat and see exactly what a miner would have experienced.More

This is by far the best underground tour you can take. The guides are all ex miners or direct descendants. Great knowledge and great atmosphere. A must see when in the Wonthaggi area.

Discovered the State Coal Mine at the Phillip Island Tourist Centre. We did the hour and a half underground tour with our volunteer guide and found it very interesting. All the other areas were free entry. Friendly service and good food in the cafe.

Sorry for the late response. The walking into the mine is over a not very steep path. It is doable for sombody walking with a stick. As far I remember, there are no steps. The way up is with a mine-train.
