My husband's professor recommended that we go and visit Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, and I'm so glad we did. The gardens behind the house are very pretty, and seeing the house inside is pretty neat. They offer several different discounts including military, which I thought was...More

My husband wanted to see where President Jackson lived and so we went. The grounds were lovely and immaculate. However, you were not allowed to go into the home alone, must be on an escorted tour of 10 or so. I understand that they were...More

Visited The Hermitage to pass a half day before flying home and found it an interesting and informative tour about General Jackson's life and experiences in the American War of Independence and his time as President. Recommended.

I visited the Hermitage once before many years ago when it was just a mansion you could tour. Now it's a whole complex with a museum, gift shop, cafe outbuildings, and the graves of Jackson, his wife, family members and retainers on 1,000 acres with...More

We only took the general admission, but the audio machine you can use for a self guided tour was sufficient in my opinion.

They sell beverages at several locations so no need to pack your own. The length of the walk is up to you. For just the house and gardens probably less than 1 1/4 miles. Is tour all of the hounds maybe 3 miles?
