These are the remains of a once large and formidable union army civil war fort built by slaves and free blacks to protect strategically critical Nashville encampment of the union army. While never attacked it remained ready for battle throughout the war. A well marked...More

Highly recommended! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Three excellent videos tell two critical Civil War stories: surrender of Nashville to Union forces in Feb. 1962 and Confederate army defeat in Battle of Franklin-Nashville in Nov. 1864. There is a well laid out walk around hillside site...More

We just happen to stop by this history civil war site. Walk to the top for the best view of downtown Nashville. Check out the gift shop. Free parking and wifi.

I was a little disappointed because I thought we would be going in a fort but it's just on top of it. But the docents were very helpful and knowledge and it's free.

Fort Negley is essentially the ruins of a civil war Fort. I can see why they built a fort here- it is quite possibly the highest point in the city. There are great views of the downtown area. It is a little hike to get...More

This was an interesting place to explore. I went about 7pm and it very quiet, not busy at all. Was a good spot to see the sunset too. I appreciated the signs with the information and history.

This place was beautiful and a well kept park. Its a nice walk, views of the city and plaques around with different history of the fort and why it was built.

There isn't much to look at while at the fort, but there are post every few feet with history written down. Once you get to the half way point, you get to see an amazing view downtown Nashville.

Passed buy it many times but finally stopped. Earth works fort that protected Nashville during the civil war. Recently they removed the trees so now it like it was during battle of Nashville. Vistors center is small.
