Being from the UK it is very interesting to visit the state capitol buildings and research the history. The staff were very welcoming and actually said it was nice to have us visit which was much appreciated. The rooms are beautiful and we wandered around...More

Tennessee doesn't mess around when they built their capital on a hill...it was more like a mountain. An imposing building designed to be well defended. First level was dark and foreboding, but the second level was grand and beautiful.

This is an attractive building, filled with legislative offices and chambers. You can view the chambers, but a quick visit is all that is necessary.

Beautiful architecture and nice view over the city. There is not much around, therefore I recommend not to plan too much time. I personally spent about 30 minutes on-site.

I had a few hours to spend in downtown Nashville and thought that the capitol would be a good starting point. Walked up the limestone stairs to the somewhat modest entrance. Once inside, the beauty of this historic building began to reveal itself. The guard...More

We went on a self guided tour of the building using the brochure we received at the information desk. Look out for the murals in the Main Reception Room - I think it was called the Governor's Room. The upstairs gasoliers are lovely, they are...More

Tours are available from Monday-Friday on an hourly basis (but not at 12) and as long as you don't mind the large groups of schoolkids who visit daily, it is an interesting building to see. You can go into both Senate & Representative chambers (as...More

No there is not a dress code, but one should not be required for a visitor, of any age, to the State Capitol. The Capitol is a very historic building and I hope he enjoys his visit. If he has a guide, have him ask them to... More
