We decided to take a short day trip from Murfreesboro. The Appalachian Center was about an hour away and an easy drive. Parking is conveniently close to the building. The gallery is small but contains very interesting pieces of art. The gift shop was full of works, just as interesting, and the staff was readily available to answer questions. It... More

Local student artisans create a variety of beautiful objects, such as pottery, jewelry wood craft and paintings. I wanted to buy everything, but of course I could not afford to do that. Highly recommend this site to find one of a kind items.

We take motorcycle trips out that direction and try and stop by periodically to see what is new. Wonderful local artisans and unique things to see and buy. Worth the effort to go there if you're in the area.

Beautiful mountain lookout setting that also teaches artisan classes as part of it's association with a local college. Also serves lunch during peak season. The gift shop carries crafts from its current & former students. So if you want a unique gift for someone this is the place to start looking.

During a visit to Smithville, we visited the Appalachian Center for Craft. Wide variety of handmade crafts, some are stunning to look at. Not everything is for sale but enough for everyone to find something.

I have been to a few weekend classes, and they are very informative. Have all the equipment you need and talented instructors. Love their outdoor events! So well organized. And the gift shop is the best! So many crafts and art, and reasonably prices. A grat place to visit or take a course.

I've visited many times, and always make a point of taking in the adjacent gallery that exhibits student works. Evidently, the instructors are really inspirational because the student works are very polished and have unique points of view. In the gift shop, I have purchased several pieces of pottery, wall hangings, wrought iron hooks, photographic prints; there's lots to choose... More
