Beautiful, rugged and remote! Wildlife aplenty! In many places, horses and hikers may encounter each other - we really appreciated (and our horses did, too!) the hikers willingness, patience and kindness to yield to our horses on the trail!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful showing us all the different wild flowers. The walk was easy and beautiful. I would highly recommend this activity.

Just 10 miles south of Bandera this area lets you get out and see the Hill Country. Most of the surrounding area is private land. Trails are numerous and there are bathrooms and a nice picnic area. There is an entrance fee.

Tawny was patient, provided cold drinks and snacks during the ride, and was so much fun to talk... More

The Hill Country State Natural Area is more than we could do in one day of hiking. Beautiful countryside with magnificent vistas. Trails are well maintained, staff friendly and helpful. We will be back!

The park rangers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I was hiking by myself so they asked were I planned to hike so they could keep an eye on my time. I felt reassured and thankful to know they cared for my safety! I got in a great hike!

This is a basic state park with minimal facilities and amenities, though it is staffed, and the park rangers are super helpful. Perfect for a true nature experience. They were transitioning the trail marking system, so some of the signage was confusing, but we ended up on some more challenging trails as a result. The "challenging" or "more difficult" ratings... This was my second year to participate in the Bandera Trail Run by Tejas Trails. The staff/rangers work hard and the land is beautiful. Get outside here!
