The Dixie Dude Ranch is perfect for families with children, they have easy-going horses and gentle rides. We loved the rustic cabin with its bunk beds and porch swing. There was also a pool and a hot tub! There's lots of things for the children to do, including fun fishing in a catfish pool and roasting marshmallows around the campfire.They... More

We stayed for 3 nights in September 2015. Nice clean and comfortable cabbins (stayed in Jangle), great pool area, wonderful staff, lovely food, fantastic horses and scenic trails. You also get close to the other guests, as meals are at long tables in main house. Also during bonfires and entertainment you can interact with other guests. Like they say, your... More

Nothing like riding in the Texas hills, enjoying the trails, and staying for a brisket lunch. Overnight possibilities as well.

If you love good home cooked meals, quiet country life, and horseback riding then you need to spend considerable time at Dixie Dude Ranch. It's a blast from the past with Wifi only in the lodge, truly refreshing. It is clean, neat and comfortable. Cute as a bug!! Town is 10 minutes away, if you must. The horses are trail... More

The people were very friendly and helpful. The horseback riding was awesome and the trails short or long, and very scenic. I also went hiking the alien rock loop but got lost on the way back after passing the "6666" trail sign and passing through the cactus patches at the top of the hill. Took animal paths down to the... The people here are really nice so it pains me to have to write this but the overall experience was quite poor. The price is extremely expensive for what you get - mediocre accomodations, a lackluster trailride with very very lax security (i.e. no helmets and encouraging toddlers and infants to ride!) and truly inedible food (we could barely chew... I stayed at the Dixie Dude Ranch for 3 nights with my wife and 3 year old daughter during a 2 week vacation in Texas and I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are in Texas. The cabin we stayed in whilst Rustic was great and my daughter loved the bunk beds and the swing on the porch. Apart... More

I don't live far from here - but when my family came in from Ohio we all came here. There was something for everybody. My young niece was as happy as my young adult daughter and my older parents. Very friendly staff and great home style food. Just know you are not going to be 'connected' - your cell phone... More

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon road trip. the staff are really friendly and try to make your stay as good as possible. there is a communal dining room and meals are taken as a group 3 times a day. The quality home made of the food was great and there is a lot of it. There are... More

I reviewed the experience we have had at the Dixie Dude since 1958. What I forgot to 'rave about' is the food. Three meals a day prepared Family Style and everyone sits in this wonderful dining room, enjoying each other and the fabulous fresh and a delicious meal, Dixie Dude style! If you want a real vacation, this is the... More
