Loved our visit to Bastrop. Lots of little stores to browse. Visitors center and museum are a must visit and conveniently located on Main Street. Calvary Episcopal Church is open and houses beautiful stained glass windows.

There are a good number of highly rated restaurants. There were quite a few empty buildings when we were there and one shop we were in said they were moving. Austin is expanding around Bastrop making it difficult for the small shops to compete.

Nice area, very clean with shops full of friendly people. There is also some interesting history to be found if you are into that. Most of Bastrop has a big city feel but this area has been well preserved and is a great reminder how...More

Most of the buildings are historical. The street is tree lined and shady. There are chairs here and there if one needs to sit down to relax. The employees in the stores are so friendly and accommodating. Just a friendly, pretty small town.

Friendly small town with several cute 'ladies' shops. We spent about an hour walking first down one side of the street and then back up the other side. Parking was pretty easy especially on a weekday.

Bastrop’s Historic Downtown May not house livery stables, merchantile stores, soda fountains and saloons any longer. But the buildings that once housed them are still there. These buildings now house restaurants, law offices, antique stores, and many other businesses. The historical things are the facades...More

Elgin Main Street is full of historic and well preserved buildings. A growing area that offers many activities on the main street, food, shopping, museum and pub atmosphere. Don't miss Hogeye Festival in October each year.

I know some of the restaurants are open on Sunday but may close late afternoon. Download the app for Bastrop it has a lot of great information and hours of operation.
