The ride across the ship channel can take from 15 minutes to 25 minutes, due to any ships coming or going. The ferry has to wait on all ships traveling. From the Baytown side to the LaPorte side there is a restaurant called The Monument Inn, great seafood. You can have a wait to get on the ferry, it depends... More

What great fun using this small free Ferry. Saved me a bunch of time since I-10 was backed up. The Ferry started in 1822!

We were visiting the monument and battleship and my husband noted on the may that we could get to I10 headed to New Orleans quicker if we used the ferry. We were impressed. It is a short ride, actually, and FREE, but just so convenient. What a great way to travel and fast. DO IT!!!

Very convenient. Short Terry ride but saves an hour or more of driving for me. Eye level with the channel.

A water-level eye view of the ship channel. This short trip has been made more pleasant by their providing a solid barrier at the front of the boat as opposed to the chain they used to use. Be sure to check hours of operation as they have been reduced from what they used to be.

Free, tiny little ferry that takes you a very short distance but saves you some driving. By far the smallest ferry I've ever been on. Vehicles only with no room to get out. No walk ons

This ferry is a great piece of Texas history and the short trip is fun. The line is usually long, so don't take this if you're in a rush. However, the history around this route is amazing. This spot played a huge role in Texas gaining independence from Mexico. So, take your time, read the historic markers while you wait,... More
