Park closes at sunset. Just make sure you have timed it so you are walking back toward the car when the sun sets. The Sheriff came by and told us all we had ten minutes. After ten minutes he announced to return to your car immediately or you will be cited! I walked as fast as I could, but could... More

Easy drive to the dam headquarters with picnic area, etc. The restrooms are filthy, so plan to leave the overlook area for facilities.

Great place to visit with friends and family or alone. You can walk across the dam or around the park and also thru some trails, all with the beautiful views of Canyon Lake. The Corps of Engineers has done a great job in keeping this area very nice for everyone to enjoy.

We took my mom on a walk along the dam. She is on a walker & was able to navigate really well on the smooth surface. Thankfully there was a nice breeze off the water so it wasn't too hot. Decent bathroom too.

Very beautiful and well-kept park. Be aware - it closes at sunset set. The caretaker drove his truck to the edge of the dam, sounded a siren and announced the time of the sunset and that the gates would be locked at that time. It seemed to disrupt the mood, since one might feel compelled to race to their car... More

The views of the lake from the dam were gorgeous. We didn't make it for the sunset, but I'm sure that would be a beautiful place to watch the sunset. We also enjoyed the Guadalupe river trail the starts at the foot of the dam before you turn to go up to the park.

Don't miss this beautiful lake view. Wear walking shoes and of it's summer, go early or late, to avoid the sun. Only a little shade available. Best of all, it's free...

Beautiful view, nice park. Benches to enjoy the scenery. .8 mile walk across the dam. Head down to the lake and go swimming.

My family and I learned about this place while staying in New Braunfels for Labor Day weekend. We were traveling with 3 teenagers and a 7 year old. We absolutely loved this place! The views are amazing! We hiked down to get to the lake and it was quite a work out so make sure you wear hiking shoes/sandals. I'd... More
