This is perhaps the finest of all of the Art Deco buildings in Fair Park. Do not expect to see much in the way of museum-style displays. It is the building itself, with its grand architecture and it's history-packed murals, which is the star attraction here.

Small review because there isn't much to tell other than it's a breathtaking piece of architecture. Full of Texas grandiosity and statuary and made me Texas proud. Nobody there except for very nice man at desk. Parking free. No crowd. Architecturally reminiscent of English Palladian and Robert Adam. Take advantage of seeing it now. There are many developers in Dallas... More

A tour book had recommended Fair Park as a good place to visit and the Hall of State seemed like a good spot to start. It was hard to find (I swear the signs sent us in the opposite direction!) and not well marked within the Park. But it was worth the effort! The building is gorgeous and its entry... More

This is a beautiful building dedicated to greatness of the (Republic of/State of) Texas, that celebrated its Centennial in 1936, when it was built. Along with various museum-type exhibitions that rotate, it also housed the "Taylor Swift Experience" a bit of popular fluff during the recent State Fair. In other words, the building architecture and the details are worth seeing,... More

We visited this beautiful building during our first trip to the Texas State Fair. It was wonderful to get to go into the buildings on the fair grounds and tour around in each of them. Many had their own exhibits going on. Inside the Hall of State you will find numerous statues of historic Texas figures. I could have spent... More

This was our first time in this beautiful building. The architecture and painting s were amazing. We went in during the fair and enjoyed the many different traveling exhibits they had to offer. Would lover to come back when I had more time to soak it all in.

We came down to Fair Park to visit the Hall of State as we were under the impression that is was a museum dedicated to Texas history. We were wrong. This beautiful Art Deco style building is basically a place for special events and presentations. They were having a special exhibition regarding the six flags that have flown over Texas... More

Built in 1936 and designed for the centennial of the Republic of Texas by architect Donald Barthelm The Hall of State is considered one of the most representative examples of art deco architecture in Texas. It features memorials to many of the heroes of Texas history. In 1986, the building was restored and the East Texas room became home to... More

When this stately room is decorated, it is magnificent. We found it to be very accommodating and elegant. Walking through the halls to enjoy the historical stations along the walls and floors make this an excellent choice. One consideration, if live band is an option consider sound check as acoustics restricted conversation a bit.

Beautiful to see at any time and some nice history displays. But at night....a stunning venue for a wedding and wedding receptions. Don't think I'd drive out here to just take a look, but if you're hear for an event, the State Fair, dining at the Inn....check it out.
