The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

We went on a weekday to kill time bc our flight was delayed so it was very quiet. Very nice zoo! Seems like they have a lot of options for learning more about the various animals like meet and greets with handlers and a show. Not too big so easy to walk through for a few hours. Paid $5 to... More

Nearly missed the second half, such a big facility! The gorillas were SO amazing and SO CLOSE! The trumpeter hornbills were totally adorable. Really excited to see a Lesser flamingo for the first time ever!! Excited to see the koala too. Sister fed the lorikeets and we always love petting goats! Very neat exhibits!

My husband and sister and I went to the Zoo on a rainy/cloudy Sunday and it was still so much fun! We were going along at a pretty good pace and we were able to see a lot of the zoo, but we easily could have stayed all day! It has a petting zoo with a lot of animals and... More

This was my first time back to the Dallas Zoo in 15 years, even though I live nearby. It has always been a good zoo, and I could tell they had made major strides to make it even better. The exhibits are well done, but many are under construction, making it difficult to see the animals. We paid a high... More

Dallas has made great strides to make this zoo fun for the whole family. Loved feeding the gariffs, watching elephants take showers, birds do tricks, kids area. U can take your food and drinks in with u making it a great way to spend the day.

The Dallas Zoo constantly upgrades and adds to its already incredible exhibits. My family and I love this zoo, plus it is so easy to get to. You completely forget you are in a big city when visiting here. The park is super clean, staff is always friendly, and the animals are fantastic (of course, it's all about them!)

We took DART and the stop was near the main entrance. An added bonus was the $4.00 discount for taking DART to the zoo. A sign near the main entrance says the zoo began in 1888. Much progress has been made since then and new enclosures are under construction. A tunnel under the road connects Zoo North to The Wilds... More

The zoo has many places to get up close views of all kinds of animals. Each section of the zoo makes you feel like you are in a completely foreign land enjoying the native animals. There are a couple of places where the freeway interrupts this experience, but overall I really enjoyed the design. There is a great little area... More

Sorry to be negative but my wife and I visited this "zoo" while in Dallas and we were quite disappointed. The animals such as there were looked bored. Which may sound strange but that is what we came away with.
