The walls of this Victorian style house museum tell the story of life in Denton at the turn-of-the-century. The story of Denton County prior to 1908 is told through the music room with the E. Gabler & Bro. grand piano, the elegantly set dining room table, and the majesty of the Eastlake-style adult bedroom suite. From the moment visitors step on the garden grounds or the wrap around porch, the walls of the Bayless-Selby House museum begin their story.

The Bayless-Selby House was moved to it's present location to preserve its architectural significance in the this area. The Denton Master Gardeners surrounded it with lovely plants typical of the time. The area has now grown to include other historical homes within walking distance of the Historical Denton Square. The Bayless-Selby Home sometimes hosts events. I was invited to a... More

Was greeted by a lovely tour guide named, Paul! Really enjoyed this and hasn't idea people used their hair to make jewelry and decorative wreaths! Paul had many wonderful stories to tell. We especially enjoyed the Quaker home and the African Americans that were impacted by this back in the 1920's! Suggested reading for this tour is a book called... More

I was welcomed by 2 eager tour guides who told me interesting facts about the home and the previous owners, also answering any questions I had. They were very welcoming, even allowing me to try out the square piano (which alas, was very out of tune!), and one of the guides played the small pump organ for some children. There... More

We visited the Bayless-Selby House Museum the weekend before Halloween. The Denton County Office of History and Culture put on a cute Halloween-themed walk through. It was a neat visit.

This is a wonderful historical home, with beautiful antiques and docents who do a great job showing you around. Then, afterward, you can go to the Greenhouse restaurant and experience some more of the family's history!

I arrived on a weekday first thing the morning so I was the only person there but, it sure didn't matter to the tour guide. I rang the doorbell and he was more than happy to show me around solo! So much history in this house and the tour guide was very knowledgeable! Definitely a must-see when you visit Denton!
