If you are looking for a place to enjoy the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country, the trip to Enchanted Rock should be at the top of your list! Great hiking trails, picnic areas, camping and, of course, the climb up the rock are among the things you will enjoy here! Be sure to dress comfortably and bring plenty... More

We drove out to the rock from Fredericksburg and it was certainly a lovely drive despite very nearly hitting a deer that jumped out of the brush right in front of our car. We missed him by little more than a freckle! So keep that in mind as you drive this route. The rock itself is quite the deal but... More

It's not a hike but a climb up a small part of a large underground rock called a batholith. There was hardly any flat area and we literally climbed all the way to the top. Of course we had a couple of rest stops, ok, maybe one or two more but the climb was so worth it. We had heard... More

We climbed the rock in the morning- was not very busy, but as we left many were coming in. The climb was fun-just took our time and we were at the top in about 1/2 hour. Very windy at the top - hold on to your hats and children or they could blow away. Cost $5 per person to enter... More

Enchanted Rock is the perfect hike for a morning or afternoon adventure. There is a $7 per person fee to enter the park for all those aged 13 and up. There are clean restrooms, a playground, and lots of trails. We went straight up and down in about an hour but you could spend most of the day hiking. There's... More

I had a spare day between assignments and I decided drive to Enchanted Rock from San Antonio. The ride was enjoyable but when I entered the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area I knew I made the right decision. Enchanted Rock is an enormous pink granite pluton batholith located in the Llano Uplift approximately 17 miles north of Fredericksburg, Texas and... More

Went on Friday at 10:00 AM. Parking lot was already full and closed. There are 200 parking spots, so get there early. They reopened the park at 1:00PM, but we went home. Saturday, went t 9:00 AM. We pull ed trailer, so we parked in the RV parking. Only about 10-15 spaces in RV, but we got in. We took a... More

A wide variety of hiking trails for all skill levels. Beautiful scenery. Park personnel were friendly and helpful. The map was sufficient. $7.00 per person was reasonable for a full day of fun. Nice picnic area. Well maintained. There are flashing lights 14 miles outside of town that will let you know if the parking lot is full and you... More

First time I went camping since a child and it was wonderful. Unfortunately, it was really hot as we decided to go in August. Weird night with no breeze. The campgrounds are amazing and clean and you walk out to amazing views of the rocks of Enchanted Rock. Only problem was trying to get a peaceful nights sleep as other... More

We came here fairly early on a warmish Sunday morning. I had done some research online and was aware that on weekends and holidays the park can fill up by 10 am and they will then not let any more people in for several hours. We arrived at 8:45 and drove right in, although we could see people on the... More
