Beautiful cold crisp day to hike and experience nature. My son who says he does not like to hike said "this is the best hike ever." They loved climbing rocks. We did the loop trail until we got to Echo Summit trail. Then we climbed...More

Enchanted Rock is 13 miles north of Fredericksburg, TX and a real Texas treasure. The trail to the summit is probably what draws most people to the park. The dome itself is at least 1 billion years old which, in itself, is mind-blowing. The summit...More

My husband and I recently visited Enchanted Rock after living in the area for 25 years. Why did we wait so long? It was a rigourous climb, but well worth the view. We followed up the climb with the trail loop. We enjoyed it as...More

If you’re in the Austin area Enchanted Rock is a must see. In January there was plenty of parking, but I could see how in the summer months parking would be limited. The views we fantastic and the boulders were huge and fun to climb!...More

The trip to Enchanted Rock from Austin is very nice. We enjoyed it as a family with children. When we arrived, the lights were flashing saying that the park was closed for new visitors. We went anyway to the entrance and thus got yellow slips...More

Carry water and chocolate or energy bars! It's a long walk! But our entire family enjoyed it! There are some trails that are very challenging. Just spent half of a day.

Gorgeous views, tons of walking. Cold & windy today, but definitely wouldn't come here when it is hot! NOT a place for small children (I'd only bring age 13 or older) and you'll want really comfortable hiking shoes. Bring your own water- NONE of the...More

Bummed we could not go on any of the other trails but the loop trail was a nice easy walk. Cost is $7/adult. Will try to return when the weather is better.

We hiked the rock, and then did a combination of the echo and loop trails, as well as the scenic overlook, which we really enjoyed. The boulders are wonderful, and can be climbed if you’re adventurous. We were lucky to go after the rains relented....More

It was cool and we couldn’t climb the big rock with the dogs, but worth the $7 per person entry fee. It’s a great 5 mile loop hike if you can’t go up to the rock. Pretty scenery and a fun hike. We were there...More

Water, water, and more water. I'd also pack snacks and plenty of sun screen. The ladies that we rode horses with also told us it is typically 10-20 degrees cooler on cold days and hotter on hot days down in the canyon, do... More

It’s not too cold here during Thanksgiving. I also don’t imagine it will be busy. I’d dress in layers and watch the weather.

The park is actually closed this week for a group hunt/ event. I believe they reopen on Friday at 2pm. So I wouldn't show up until then.
