The buildings are nice preserved in this town and it gives the visitor a sense of small town life, particularly of the original German settlers. It is a little too commercial in parts, and it was packed the day we came into town. The shops did little for me, although they did have a nice antique shop near the outside... More

You definitely get a sense of Fredericksburg's German roots with some of the old buildings which dot Main Street. Many are beautiful stone structures which are well preserved. There are some interesting stores selling local crafts but also a large number shilling cheap souvenirs, many of which have nothing to do with the region. We enjoyed walking up and down... More

This is an interesting stroll - you can stop for a glass of wine, shop for doggie treats or fine leather handbags! - the variety is great, and it's easy to find something to take home - good selection of jewelry, local art, and more!

Nice shops with boutique and funky items. A bit pricey but unique. The kitchen store is amazing, things you never knew you needed. Enjoy the stroll.

We spent a nice afternoon visiting all the downtown shops on Main street. Restaurants tend to be tucked around on a side street. We stayed at an RV park. They gave us a map of Main street with many stores marked. We saw the same map a few places on Main street. There is a visitor center. If you can... More

Fredericksburg has one of the largest and most intriguing main streets I've ever experienced in a small town. There is a unique blend of German Heritage, Cowboy Culture, and modern eclectic shopping. The southeast side is more compact and crowded than the northwest side for what it's worth.

Super cute shops. Lots of true Texas hill country items. Great for strolling the afternoon away. Wonderful place to Christmas shop and dine. Will return in the spring. January not the best weather for strolling the area.

I enjoyed exploring Fredericksburg as there are many interesting buildings and lots of history. However, the shops in general just reminded of a typical tourist trap with high prices and nothing extra special. I did go into one wine tasting room but the server wasn't all that friendly and I found a much better experience visiting individual wineries outside of... More
