I live down here on the island. I would recommend going to take a look at the seawall. There's the beach & plenty of places to shop for anything & lot's of places to eat. I'm on a permanent vacation living here......

I was here in mid September and it was pretty quiet during week. Plenty of places to feel like you kind of had beach to yourself. Gotta pay for parking all along beachfront except it's free between 69th and 81st streets (double check before you...More

The things you see and can teach just walking along the seawall. Love the area, very diverse. Family fun and well as adult fun. We enjoyed The Pleasure Pier, just enough for us parents and not too much for these teens.

Sparsely populated when we we went. Beach seems to be shallow for a good distance out. Waves at shore were fine for our 3 year old to splash and enjoy. Lots of shells to pick up. Sea birds everywhere. Along the large rocks at the...More

We had a good time watching the fishers, from up on high, under the fishing net shade. Admission was $2, and that bought a soft drink. At the end we had popsicles!

The sea wall is a fun, customizable attraction. Stay sand-free on the ledge, or get your toes in the sand. Have hustle and bustle of the east end or more serenity on the west end. People see or bird watch. Stay all day or simply...More

Had a great time at the beach every night! My son had a blast. It wasn't too crowded and if we got bored we could move to another spot. Lots to see and do! And jist a walk from our hotel! Beautiful sunset too!!!!

Love it in October when one can see the beach & gulf without the distraction of parked cars and crowds of people.

Yes it is a good beach for families. With a very gradual decline, most of the time the water is shallow a good distance from the beach. Yes you can bring your own umbrellas and chairs.
