The Ocean Star is a retired jackup drilling rig that offers a fun, hands on way to learn about the offshore oil and gas industry in a comfortable and accessible facility. The museum features three floors of models, exhibits, equipment and interactive displays illustrating the story of offshore exploration and production. This self guided museum is open seven days a week and offers visitors the unique opportunity to board an actual offshore rig. While ticket sales halt at 4:00 PM, visitors can remain until the site closes at 5:00. Welcome Aboard!

I really enjoyed our visit. I was not sure how to feel about this place but I am so glad I went. I learned much about how offshore drilling works and how it works. Definitely worth the visit!

We were walking through the Strand District and came across this museum. It does not look like much but it was. We were there about 2 hours learning about off shore drilling.

I would say more for school age children but little ones might like all the sounds and colors in the museum and the size of the rig set up outside.... My daughters were 9&11 and they weren't excited at first but had a great... More

Yes, I believe it is wheel chair accessible. There are ramps and elevators.

Yes it is as described in the other answer. It’s a long ramp. Plenty of space but doubt your be able to get the outside deck.
