Great ride! Since we included our own adventure (hit the curb and hence blew out the tire) we needed to interact with the crew. The two guys were great about it and assisted us in safely leaving the ferry. They were helpful, courteous, and humorous. "Ma'm, did you do a curb check?" This helped us lighten up our situation which... More

Free ferry and a fun, 20 minute ride across the mouth of Houston harbor. Great sight seeing, the ship traffic is really cool to see.

We have traveled by ferry many times over the years. Today was a huge disappointment! It is off season and the timing was horrible. We waited almost two hours in line. Previously I've never waited longer than 20/25 minutes in off season. Many people were "privileged" to cut the line who had a special pass. Very disappointing. Hopefully the department... More

Be prepared to either wait long times, or your wait to be very short. There are many times that you can be either the very first vehicle in line, or have gotten there before many other cars and yet the attendants directing traffic will let others go before you many times, leaving you to sit and wait for the ferry... Ferry holds about 65 cars, unless a semi, fire truck, rv etc goes over. 3 ferries were running when we went across for a days adventure. Had to wait an hour to get on a ferry for the return trip.

We rode the ferry and did not have to travel through Houston on our way back home to Alabama. The ferry was on time and the staff was competent and pleasant. Probably saved a couple of hours by avoiding Houston traffic

I'm sure that for people who have to take the ferry to work and other business on a daily basis, the ferry soon looses its appeal. But for occasional traveler, it is treat. Especially if the line to get on is not too long. The line does get long on high tourist days. The trip is long enough that you... More
