Cruise terminal for either Carnival or Royal Caribbean could be air conditioned a bit better but otherwise efficiently organized to embark and debark cruise passengers. Locale in the area is fun and accessible to all ages and love Galveston is so dog-friendly

Cozumel is a nice and clean port. However beware of Diego's Shop just outside the port entry. The staff are extremely pushy! Beware! They think highly of their over-priced, inferior jewelry.

We went out of the port of Galveston on a cruise with RCL. The embarkation and disembarkation was wonderful! We though it went very fast! Security was always on the look out for anything unusual. We felt safe. The Liberty of the Seas was stunning....More

My family recently took our first cruise and decided to just park right at the Port of Galveston rather than use one of the private parking companies. We got to the Port early about 90mins before our scheduled check in time with Carnival and though...More

Sadly we did not have a good experience boarding and disembarking the RCCL ship in Galveston. The traffic at the port is badly managed, the shuttles to parking too few, long lines to wait. The area to drop off and pick up is a nightmare....More

We went on a cruise on Liberty of the Seas with our two kids and my brother-in-law’s family, and we were simply blown away by the way everything on the cruise ship was so well thought out and how the crew members were going out...More

We always enjoy sailing with Royal Caribbean and this was our second time on Liberty of the Seas. We left out of Galveston and cruised to Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. We cannot say enough about how great we were treated. The check in was quick...More

Galveston once was the biggest port on the Gulf coast. Today, not as much, but it still has plenty of cruise ships, freighters, fishing boats, and floating drill rigs. Makes for an interesting stop, adjacent to the downtown area, with lots of shops and restaurants...More

One factor to consider is if you are on Carnival and have a preset boarding time, then you need to allow for the time of day you are driving to Galveston and the day of the week. We had a 12:30 boarding and the traffic... More

We had a rental car but as you said there is plenty of onsite parking. However depending where on the pier your ship docks it may be a long walk, so drop your luggage and any physically challenged folks by the ship first.
