The Grapevine Vintage Railroad travels along the historic Cotton Belt Route between Grapevine and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Railroad is serviced by two vintage locomotives which include "Puffy" the 1896 Steam locomotive and oldest continously operating steam engine in the South, and a 1953 GP-7 diesel locomotive. Passengers enjoy riding in authentic 1920s and 1930s Victorian - style coaches as they take a step back in time and experience train travel as it was in the glory days of the expanding West. Pull into the Fort Worth Stockyards Station and you'll be right in the middle of the Stockyards National Historic District where the Old West comes alive. Have fun at this outstanding retail and entertainment district.

The idea is great, employees are super friendly and the vintage train cars are cool. That’s where the positives end, though. The train stops inexplicably every couple of miles and you just sit there. We were 45 minutes late getting to the stock yards and...More

3 words! Don't do it. This train ride was very boring! It was very slow and by the time you get to Fort Worth it's time to get back on. Plenty of other things to do in Grapevine. Do any of that instead!!

We were looking forward to a nice little ride on a vintage train to the stockyards and had planned it weeks in advance. The trip wasn't bad, necessarily, but it was long and boring. The scenery out the window was straight through town after town....More

Disappointing ride from the stockyards. The train route was disappointing. We boarded at the stockyards and went along a route that was full of construction areas. The air conditionered car was the highlight as it gave us relief from the extreme Texas heat. The train...More

I went with a tour group on the railroad to the stockyards. As others have mentioned, the train is very slow. The scenery isn't great, although we did see some lovely homes in subdivisions on the way. The staff was pleasant. The biggest problem is...More

I had my heart set on a great train ride, just to get my bride of 46 years out of the memory care facility she stays in. Now, I have lived in the DFW area my entire 67 years, but never rode that train until...More

The train is a very leisurely and slow paced experience; the train moves very slow. There are air conditioned cars and "open cars" without air. If you have connecting activities, be prepared because the train "may" be temporarily delayed for a few minutes on the...More

This visit was in combination with a 'Murder Mystery' play that was acted out on board as we rolled the tracks from Grapevine into North Richland Hills. Some of the cars were open-air, while others were air conditioned. I enjoyed the air conditioned car as...More
