The tiny island of Iwo Jima is located below Japan and East of Taiwan. Although I had heard of this monument, I was not aware of the extremely high cost of lives that preceded the raising or our American Flag. The approx. 30 minute film in the museum is a must. It is well narrated and informative and will give... More

The Iwo Jima Memorial and Museum will bring tears of appreciation to visitors' eyes. The giant statue is the model for the statue in Washington D. Great history. The staff includes men and women who served during the Korean War. Beautiful place with a place to walk and a museum with a movie.

I never realized that a seemingly easy to conquer little island, was so hard won. I was a young girl in a Japanese concentration camp... More

My wife and I have been wintering in Southeast Texas, in Weslaco, Tx. for the last 4 years. We met a couple at our resort this year and they mentioned they would like to see the IWO JIMA Monument. We told them we had been to it a couple of times and would be happy to take them. So off... More

This is so informative. The number of lives lost on both sides astonishing. So sad. So afraid we have more wars to come. But will the future wars be for such a just cause? We can only hope so.
