We were allowed to wander through the entire building and every part is worth seeing. A wonderful job of restoring an historic property. Any person interested in Texas history will enjoy it.

The Hill County Courthouse, built in 1890, is a three-story limestone structure of Second Empire style, but it also incorporates Classical Revival and Italianate influences. It was destroyed by fire on the night of January 1, 1993. The destruction was nearly complete. All that remained...More

First, look at the pictures of the fire which gutted the place in 1993. Then go inside and marvel at the restoration, partially funded by home town hero, Willie Nelson. Beautiful new woodwork. Walls and exteriors all re-done and spruced. Would have been so easy...More

This was an interesting courthouse. The original one had a fire and the dome part caved in. You can see a list of donors who helped rebuild.Willie Nelson gave a couple of concerts to help rebuild.

Hillsboro has done an awesome deed by restoring their courthouse. Absolutely beautiful! They have a farmer's market on Saturdays during the summer.

Great courthouse. One of the prettiest I've ever seen. It has great architecture and character. Town has friendly people. There is a great restaurant right on the south east corner of the courthouse square named Frankie's. Great fun for a day trip
